The Moment That Changed Everything

In life, we all have those defining moments—ones that shape our perspective and alter the course of our journey. For me, Kazuki Nakayashiki, co-founder of Glasp, that moment came when I faced a near-death experience due to a subdural hematoma. Lying in the hospital bed, I reflected on what truly mattered. I realized that knowledge is one of the most valuable things we accumulate in our lives, yet it often gets lost when we move on. We read, we learn, we highlight—but what happens to all that knowledge? It fades away, locked in personal notebooks, never to be seen again.

This realization sparked a question: What if we could democratize knowledge? What if people could build upon each other's insights, creating a collective intelligence that transcends generations?

The Birth of Glasp

Glasp (short for "Greatest Legacy Accumulated as Shared Proof") was born out of this desire—to create a space where people could highlight, share, and connect through knowledge. We envisioned a tool that not only helps individuals capture what they learn but also allows them to see what others find valuable. A tool that enables serendipitous discovery and meaningful conversations around ideas.

From the beginning, we focused on making knowledge visible. We wanted to take highlights out of the silos of personal note-taking apps and bring them into the open, allowing people to learn from one another. We believed that by doing so, we could accelerate human learning and help people make sense of the overwhelming amount of information available today.

Building a Learning Assistant for the Future

As we built Glasp, we noticed something fascinating: people were curating their own knowledge in a way that reflected their thinking and learning process. We realized that what you highlight and engage with is a reflection of who you are and what you aspire to become. With AI advancements, we saw an opportunity—what if Glasp could not only store knowledge but also assist in learning, providing insights, recommendations, and helping users build their own AI-powered learning assistant?

Our vision evolved: to create a personalized AI that learns with you and helps you grow. By leveraging your highlights, notes, and reading patterns, Glasp is becoming a tool that deeply understands your knowledge journey, guiding you towards more meaningful learning experiences.

The Community That Makes It Possible

Glasp isn't just about highlighting—it’s about people. The real magic happens when users share their knowledge, engage with others' insights, and form connections around ideas. Our incredible community of lifelong learners, educators, and knowledge seekers have turned Glasp into something bigger than we ever imagined.

Every highlight, every note, every shared insight contributes to a collective intelligence that benefits everyone. You are not just consuming information; you are shaping the future of knowledge.
